Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is employed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail address, but to seem as being sent from a different, usually with the objective to scam the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is activated for a domain name, an exclusive record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers worldwide receive it. The record includes all email servers that are allowed to send authentic messages from an e-mail address under the domain. When an email is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and in case the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the target destination. In case, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it'll be removed. In the event that you employ this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam e-mails that appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

When you host your domains in a cloud hosting account with us and we manage the e-mail addresses for them, you'll be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in a section of its own where you'll be able to view which domain names are currently secured. For the ones that aren't, you can enable the SPF protection service and manage various things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your emails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to set a rule that messages can be sent only if your domains have our MX records. The last mentioned solution is the most secure one, but it can be used if we manage the email addresses for your domain names and do not use some other e-mail supplier. The newly created records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message with your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function comes with all the Linux semi-dedicated packages, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you'll be able to activate this service easily for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a rather user-friendly interface, therefore you won't have to be proficient in the use of computers to protected your emails. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be certified to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be active for the domain name that you have picked. As a further option, we will also allow you to control your outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes further by permitting email messages to be sent only when the domain involved has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name need to be handled by us and not by some other company. By doing this you'll get even superior control and there won't be a chance for anybody to fake your e-mails for malicious purposes.
