Every registered domain name has no less than 2 Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain to the servers of a specific website hosting provider. That way, you've got both your website and your e-mails handled by the same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are lots of other records, such as A and MX. The former shows which server manages the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one shows which server handles the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an illustration, any time you type a domain address in your web browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you will be sent to the servers of a different provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having different records for the site and the e-mails suggests that you can have your site and your e-mails with two different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a Linux cloud hosting package through us, you'll be able to view, create and change any A or MX record for your domain names. So long as a particular Internet domain has our Name Servers, you'll be able to modify specific records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your website or e-mails directed to any other service provider if you want to use only one of our services. Our innovative tool will enable you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main Internet domain at all. If you choose to use the e-mail services of a different provider and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do it with just a few clicks in the DNS Records section of your CP. You can also set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan through our company, you will be able to view and update the A and MX records for every one of the domain names or subdomains which you host within the account. The Hepsia CP, which you will get to manage the account, comes with an innovative, though easy-to-use tool where all hosts will be listed in alphabetical order and you'll be able to modify their records with no more than a few mouse clicks. If you have to set up a new record, it'll be equally easy - choose the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you'll be all set. You'll also be able to set different priority for the MX records you create in case that you decide to use a third-party e-mail provider and they ask you to create additional records besides the two default ones. If you ever encounter any problems, we have a detailed Help section with videos where you can see first-hand how to setup or edit any record.
